THE NAME MATURE TOMBOY

In 2017, I was working in a homeless shelter. Someone there referred to me as a dyke in a very derogatory way and was subsequently asked to leave for the day. The following day, they came back and handed me a note apologizing for calling me that. It read, "Miss Emma, I apoligise with mature tomboy" (see the original note)Since then, I have taken that phrase and made it my own, knowing that other mature tomboys exist. I am a printmaker in Aurora, Colorado and a co-op member at the Red Delicious Press.
